COVID-19 UPDATE
While the Alameda County shelter-in-place order is in place, we are delivering bags of groceries to BUSD free meal pick-up sites on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. They are available for pickup from 11am – 1pm. Use this list of pick-up sites to find the most convenient location for your family. Bag recipients are not required to provide any personal information in order to participate in this program.
See below for the location and hours of other Berkeley Food Network pantries open during this period of shelter-in-place.
The Berkeley Food Network offers fresh produce and non-perishable food to the families of BUSD students and staff, free of charge, and without collecting information about individuals or households. Bags are available at your child’s school during pickup hours on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month.
Pre-packed bags delivered directly to the schools often include:
- apples
- oranges
- pears
- carrots
- potatoes
- onions
- cabbage
- zucchini
- greens
- rice
- beans
- pasta
- tuna
- canned tomatoes

Bags are brought out to the curb near the bus stop and otherwise stored either in Malcolm X's BEARS After School Program space, which is just off Ellis Street near the bus stop, or in Jocelyn Foreman's office in the Family Room 105A.
