Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer to help us end hunger and reduce food waste in Berkeley

COVID-19 update:

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! While the COVID-19 crisis persists, and government assistance wanes, we expect to see more people in our community in need of food. These are difficult times for so many. We are looking for healthy folks to help us out in a fast-paced environment. Thank you SO much — it’s all hands on deck and we hope to see you soon!

Please use this link sign up for a shift:

If you do not find any available shifts when you first go to the above link, please check back. We regularly need extra people to help out at the last minute. We suggest you check first thing in the morning on days you are available to volunteer. Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Berkeley Food Network.

During this time we are asking that you only use the above link to sign up to volunteer.

Please email volunteer@berkeleyfoodnetwork.org with any questions you may have.

If you want to volunteer, but are in a high-risk group and can’t come into our warehouse, please consider donating:

  1. Paper bags––Do you have a lot of gently used paper bags from your grocery store runs? We reuse them on our OnSite Pantry for clients to more easily carry their groceries.
  2. Clean egg cartons––Save your clean egg cartons and bring ’em in! We often receive food recovery donations of eggs from nearby grocery stores. Volunteers remove broken eggs and repack them into clean cartons.
  3. Single-use face masks––For the safety of our community, we require all clients to wear a face covering when coming to our pantry. For clients who do not have one, we provide face masks so that we can safely give out food.

To coordinate a donation or if you have any questions, please email volunteer@berkeleyfoodnetwork.org for more information.
