1 in 4 families in Berkeley and Albany struggle to access consistent and affordable healthy foods. BFN has been stepping up since 2018 to feed everyone who comes to us, but we need your help to continue to provide essential support to families in our community during a challenging time.

Expanded COVID benefits have expired, leaving the most vulnerable members of our community with as little as $23 a month in supplemental food assistance. At BFN, we believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right for all. With our nimble and agile model, BFN is poised to fill gaps in government assistance during a time of increased and sustained need–but to do that, we need your help.

Help us reach our Spring Campaign goal of $100,000 to increase access to healthy, no-cost groceries for our community at a critical time.

More Ways to Give to BFN

Christina’s Story:

Christina R. came to the Berkeley Food Network when government assistance failed her. When the COVID pandemic hit, she lost her job of 16 years working as a flight attendant. She had been the sole breadwinner for her family while her husband was becoming a US citizen. Because he was undocumented, her family was categorized as ‘mixed immigration status’ and excluded from government pandemic assistance. Fortunately, during a time of high stress, BFN was there to support her family with healthy groceries.

“The dignity of the process to receive groceries was astounding. Best of all, no questions asked about immigration status. We are forever in gratitude to The Berkeley Food Network and our community for their assistance during our most vulnerable moments.”
