BFN Home Delivery provides custom grocery boxes to the most vulnerable households in our community, primarily seniors with chronic illness and others experiencing mobility and transportation barriers to accessing healthy food.
These neighbors often encounter challenges getting to our pantries, and we designed this program to get food to them. Each week, volunteers pack 75 custom boxes at our warehouse, accounting for the dietary restrictions, lifestyles, and preferences of each Home Delivery member. Then, BFN volunteers and volunteers at Berkeley Public Schools Fund and Help Berkeley deliver the boxes via mapped-out neighborhood routes.
High Touch, High Impact
This program is at the heart of our values. We believe it is essential to consider the individual needs and abilities of those we support, to put effort into meeting them, and to leverage community partnerships to create lasting impact.
We’re committed to putting in the extra energy to ensure these neighbors don’t go hungry.
“It helps with the food budget, and I have an adult daughter who is disabled in a wheelchair. We are both immunocompromised so it helps us stay safe and healthy to have our groceries delivered.“
