Berkeley Food Network is hiring an Operations Coordinator to support our food receiving and inventory management. The Operations Coordinator - Receiving will play a critical role in ensuring that Berkeley Food Network can bring in enough food for our community. This role will work with the Senior Operations Manager to guarantee that all products are received and stored in accordance with BFN standards. Major responsibilities include conducting routine inventory counts, running regular inventory reports to ensure accurate accounting of BFN products, and support allocation of product across programs. Additionally this role will assist with the coordination of warehouse operations including preparing orders, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and working with volunteers. Hours: Full-time 32 hours/week. Non-Exempt/Hourly. Schedule: Mon-Thurs 7:30am-4:00pm, possibly additional hours as scheduled with Supervisor. Location: Onsite at our West Berkeley warehouse. |
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |

Receiving 40% - Interact daily with multiple vendors and delivery partners to receive and process deliveries. - Ensure all products are received and stored appropriately. - Assist with coordination of pick-up and receiving of donated and recovered food with other staff and volunteers, including picking up food or supporting volunteers. - Maintain best practices for food handling to prevent spoilage, infestation, and cross-contamination. Inventory Oversight 35% - Work with inventory management software, Primarius, and order scheduling software, Airtable, to support order receipt and accurately track incoming and outgoing products. - Work with Senior Operations Manager to conduct routine inventory counts to ensure accurate coordination of product. - Run regular inventory reports to provide BFN Team information on where food is distributed. - Support allocation process of food inventory across distribution programs and partners. Ensure compliance with BFN’s inventory management policies and procedures. Warehouse Operations 20% - Assist with coordination of Food Sorting volunteer shifts including guiding and instructing volunteers in their warehouse duties and ensuring they observe safety rules and good food handling practices. This includes answering volunteer questions about processes and receiving and reporting volunteer feedback. - Assist with preparing orders for programs and distribution partners by processing requests, pulling materials, packing boxes, and placing orders in the distribution area and/or organization vehicles. - Maintain safe and clean facilities and work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintain clean shipping supply area; and participate in daily cleaning processes. - Oversees warehouse tasks such as checking refrigerators and freezer temperatures and coordination of trash, recycling, and compost removal. - Coordinates ongoing BFN vehicle cleaning and maintenance as needed. Organizational Support 5% -Deliver food to Mobile Pantry sites and Distribution Partners using BFN vans when needed. - Support the food distribution activities as needed. - Covers the warehouse floor when necessary. - Support other tasks as needed based on organizational demands. |

Required Qualifications -Ability to prioritize tasks and flexibility to reassess based on changing circumstances. -Communication and people skills to successfully interact with a variety of community members. -Basic computer skills and using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail). -2 Years Experience working in a warehouse, food service, or similar environment. -Willingness to learn forklift and pallet jack operation. -Must have a valid California driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications - Food Justice or Community Service desired. - Experience and comfort operating a forklift and/or pallet jack. - Knowledge of food recovery and SB 1383 - Knowledge of food production and agricultural landscape in Northern California. - Experience with software including Primarius and Airtable Personal Attributes -Problem-solving mindset - Highly organized and able to effectively manage time, including punctuality. -Collaborative approach to achieving objectives. -High level of personal responsibility and accountability to assigned tasks. -Cordial and helpful communication style with staff, volunteers, pantry members and partners. -Eager to learn and grow professionally. |

This position is primarily located in a warehouse environment. Candidate must be able to perform the following duties with or without accommodation: -Ability to exert force and/or lift or carry items weighing 50 to 75 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently. -Ability to walk, sit, squat, bend, twist, reach above and below shoulder height, push, pull, lift, and carry frequently. -Ability to work inside freezers and coolers frequently. -Ability to work in an occasionally loud warehouse environment. -Ability to handle compost and trash receptacles. |

This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position working Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional hours beyond this scheduled in collaboration (32 hours per week). The rate of pay for this position is $27.00/hour.
